Today I...June 29th

A view of some of PEI's famous red sandstone cliffs in PEI National Park near Cavendish

Today I...

...tried going for a jog this morning before having a full breakfast. I ate a cup of yogurt and drank a bit of orange juice and off I went. I made it one kilometer and then had to transition for the next kilometer. Not enough protein for my body for my muscles to do their job. I will either invest in protein bars or remain an evening jogger. Right now I'm leaning towards remaining an evening jogger :o)

...nearly missed my bus to work. I missed it yesterday and it was a major pain, but this time I got lucky with the traffic lights and was able to jog along behind it and catch up with it at the next stop.

...spent about two hours in the information booth, much to my pleasure!

...am looking forward to my long Canada Day weekend! I hope you all enjoy your weekend, I'm hoping to be pretty busy with my family, friends and Sweetheart, so I may not be popping in again until Tuesday, but I'll try to make it in if I can :o)

Skywatch Friday

This week's Skywatch feature is this photo that I took of the moon rising above Cavendish Beach in Prince Edward Island on the first evening of my vacation there at the beginning of the month. You will be able to see it better if you enlarge the photo by clicking on it!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and before sure to check out some of the other Skywatch photos on the Skywatch Friday blog. Happy Canada Day to all of my fellow Canadians, I hope you enjoy your long weekend!

Today I...June 27th

Green Gables Farm, Cavendish, PEI

Today I...

...am sharing Anne of Green Gables themed photos from my PEI vacation with all of you since I finished reading the fourth book of the Anne of Green Gables series, Anne of Windy Poplars, today. I'm going to download the fifth book, Anne's House of Dreams to one of my e-readers (whichever one offers me the best price!) after finishing this post.

...had a quieter day at work today than I did yesterday and got to spend about two hours in the information booth, much to my pleasure.

...am happy to report that my fuzzy eyed Platy and his Platy buddy, who also became sick, seem to be doing better since I began giving them a salt bath treatment on Saturday.

...reached a new jogging goal, I ran 2 kms without transitioning to walking today! I am most pleased with myself and you should see the legs I'm getting! I'm really satisfied with the change :o)

Today I...June 25th

Today I...

...am sharing this new Simon's Cat video with all of you. Simon's Cat videos are always a wonderful way to get a smile on your face in my opinion :o)

...had the day off.

...went to get my hair trimmed this morning. One of my favorite things about getting my hair trimmed is having it styled afterward. My hair is naturally wavy, so I very, very rarely am seen with it straight. To give you an idea, I have been with my Sweetheart for nearly eight years now and tonight is the first time he has actually seen me with my hair straight. He's seen pictures of me with nice, smooth hair of course, but has never actually seen me in person after a visit to the salon. He likes it and keeps looking at it and saying that it looks nice, but I've made it clear to him that it takes a half hour, two different kinds of brushes and a straightening iron to get it this way, on top of hand-eye coordination in front of a mirror and that I will therefore not be attempting to style my hair this way myself. The biggest roadblock in my case is the hand-eye coordination in front of the mirror. I'm dyspraxic, remember? Only mildly, but still enough for me to only style my hair myself for really important occasions and even then, I'm more likely to turn to either the curling iron or the straightening than to go anywhere near the blow dryer and brush.

...went all the way to my natural food ans supplement store to stock up on a few supplements that I was either out of or nearly out of, only to see that they were closed. It was a holiday here in the province of Quebec yesterday, so I made sure to check the website for the store before heading out and it said they were closed on Labor Day (first Monday in September), but did not mention today.

...took the bus back to the Metro station near my place rather than getting back on the Metro and riding half way around the orange line again.

...was happy to see that the natural food and supplement store across the street from my neighborhood Metro station was open. They are much smaller and did not have everything I needed, but at least I was able to get most of what I needed!

...am happily spending the evening at my Sweetheart's place. I made us dinner and he is working now, but we are quite happy to be sharing the same living space :o)

Coca Cola Security Cameras

A friend of mine from work shared this on his Timeline and I fell for it right off the bat, so I just had to share it with all of you :o)

Today I...June 23rd

Today I...

...am sharing this video of one of my favorite pieces from Eric Whitacre's latest album, Water Night, with all of you. It is entitled 'Goodnight Moon' as you can see. I'm sure you've all heard of the children's story 'Goodnight Moon' and I find that Whitacre has done a brilliant job putting it to music. I very much enjoy singing this song myself.

...had a nice time with my Sweetheart last night and we slept in quite late this morning before he headed home at 11:00.

...went shopping and came out of it victorious this time with a new sundress.

...started feeling a bit down on the way home from my shopping spree and it has gotten worse. I can't figure why, I guess it's just one of those inexplicable cases of the blues.

...started my fish on a salt bath treatment as I now have two fuzzy platys. Hopefully this will cure them .

...went out for a long walk instead of a jog as I ended up eating my dinner later than I had planned because my steak thawed more slowly than I though it would!

...am going to have to try and find something to do tomorrow, but lots of places are going to be closed as it's a holiday here, St. Jean Baptiste day to be precise. This used to be a religious holiday but it has now become far too political (pesky separatists and this year pesky red squares too!) for me, so I steer clear from all things St.Jean Baptiste related. Anyhow, I'll try and figure something out!

Today I...June 22nd

An old barbed wire fence alongside pastures on St.Peter's road near Cornwall, PEI

Today I...

...did not feel like going to work.

...dragged myself from bed around 10:00 A.M.

...felt better once I got some breakfast in me.

...helped D sort out a few scheduling problems when I got to the office.

...enjoyed some time in the information booth.

...used my time in the information booth and my dinner hour to continue devouring 'Anne of Windy Poplars', the fourth book in the Anne of Green Gables series.

...figured out how to make a payment on my personal line of credit.

...tried to figure out how much I can afford to put towards a few essential pieces of clothing I need tomorrow. I need more than I can afford, so I'm going to have to figure stuff out.

...am going to run off to get changed, as my Sweetheart just called me. He's nearby and wants to go for a walk!

Today I...June 19th

Toronto seen from the window of my flight from Charlottetown, I was heading into Pearson airport for my layover  before my flight home to Montreal

Today I...

...got up a bit earlier, despite the fact that I had trouble getting to sleep last night, this time because of my downstairs neighbor's AC unit. This may be a long summer if there are a lot of heatwaves. Let me say that I am not a difficult sleeper normally. I can fall asleep if there is music or the sound of a TV coming from another apartment as long as it is not incredibly loud. I can sleep through traffic noise, a thunderstorm as long as it is not too big and the sound of airplanes landing or taking off. A constant, low hum or vibration will drive me to distraction though, as will the sound of a dripping faucet. AC units = constant low hum and vibration and an unhappy, sleepless me.

...had a quieter day at work than yesterday.

...spent a solid hour and three quarters in the information booth while one of the summer tour guides was off giving a tour and then having dinner. It was bliss, I enjoyed the sun, spoke with a few tourists and read a big chunk of 'Anne of the Island', the third book in the Anne of Green Gables series. I just might finish it tonight and will then move on to book four, Anne of Windy Poplars!

...did not go jogging or do Pilates as it is too hot and humid. I may be off of my exercise regimen until this heat wave breaks as it is only going to get warmer.

...am concerned that I may be about to lose another one of my Platys. He has a fuzzy eye and I found him hiding in the lover left-hand corner of the tank tonight when I got home. At least he ate his dinner, but he's back near the bottom of the tank now. If I'm lucky and he is too, maybe he'll just lose the eye. I lost my mickey mouse Platy last week, so I only have my first, dark red Platy left and this guy who is yellow, dark red and black along with three Micro Raspboras and the ever enduring Alguie, my algae eating Albino Plecostamus.

...spoke with my Sweetheart for a bit over 15 minutes. He is still working a lot, but is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully it really is the light at the end of the tunnel this time though, we've seen it a few times since February and it's always moved away from us! We'll believe it when we actually get to it :oJ

Today I...June 18th

Lighthouse in Victoria By The Sea, PEI

Today I...

...slept in until 10:00 A.M.

...had a busy day at work as we had rented the Basilica to the private high school across the street for their graduation. I find it rather special though that they have their graduation right in the middle of finals! Talk about a distraction from studying!

...asked the bus driver on the way home if he was going further along my street after his stop at the metro station. I know that they have blocked off half of my street because they are going to begin repaving it this week, but some buses still along the route in spite of the detour. My driver said he would...and then turned off onto the detour! Ugh!!! I could have gotten home faster on foot from the metro station!

...went for my jog when I got home. I am very happy with the progress I have made since I began running, if this keeps up, I'll have to change my route to make it longer next week!

...am off to watch the episode of The Borgias I missed last night. I hope the video is up online!

Today I...June 16th

Farmers' fields near Cornwall, PEI

Today I...

...got my cleaning done.

...went shopping.

...came across a super sale at La Senza.

...picked up Father's Day cards for my father and grandfather.

...was disappointed when I didn't find myself any Summer clothes. Better luck next time on that front!

...went out for sushi with my brother and gave him the shot glass I got him in Charlottetown, made out of PEI clay!

...felt only slightly bad for my brother when Magique used his hand for tread in order to get away from the oscillating fan he knocked over while holding her in a way she hates. I was about to tell him to put her down because she was wriggling when he knocked over the fan and scared her silly. She gave him a couple of deep scratches on the palm of his right hand and a less serious one on the back of it. The trouble is, my brother is allergic to cats, so his hand got all red and white and swollen around the scratches. I put some ointment on them and will put some more on them tomorrow when we go to my aunt and uncle's for a Father's Day BBQ. As for Magique, she didn't feel bad about it all. When my brother went to find her before leaving my place, she gave him a definite 'screw you' in the form of a loud hiss and yowl and she ran away from him. I'm always telling my brother not to tease her...

Today I...June 15th

St. Peter's Road, PEI

Today I...

...am sharing another PEI picture with all of you, you'll be seeing them for a while :o)

...slept later than any other morning this week, until 9:45 A.M. I was pretty tired last night though, so I wasn't too surprised by that.

...didn't have a tour to give for the first time this week and it gave me a nice break.

...was locked out of my office by the janitorial staff after dinner. I went into my office after my break, put my stuff down and went back out to brush my teeth, noticing the cleaning cart in the hall on my way. When I came back to my office a few minutes later, the cart was gone and my office door was closed...with my keys and my walkie-talkie inside it. I had to call security to see if they could get me back in, but the janitorial staff hear my call and came back to let me in rather sheepishly. I told them it was no big deal, that I would just be sure and leave with my keys the next time!

...walked home from work.

...spoke with my Sweetheart for a bit. M. Pharaoh is at it again and it looks like we won't be seeing each other this weekend or next week. We really dislike M. Pharaoh, he's the bane of our existence and it looks like we're going to be stuck with him for a bit.

Today I...June 13th and Skywatch Friday

Farm on the road to Cavendish, Prince Edward Island

Today I...

...am doubling this post over with this week's Skywatch Friday post, just to make sure I can get one up :o) These blue skies I saw on my first evening in PEI two weeks ago were the best weather I had during the time I was there and I am so happy that I was able to take advantage of them when I came across this farm and another one across the road from it :o)

...am still adjusting to my new schedule. I'm looking forward to getting fully used to it as it is quite a switch from my usual schedule and now that it is the middle of the week, I'm starting to feel the mix up a bit more in my body since my eating habits are kind of out of whack. Things should be in better order next week.

...was feeling too tired to jog after work, so I walked home from work and just did a Pilates work-out instead. Each of them were a half-hour long, so I definitely don't feel like I missed out on exercising today :o)

Thanks for stopping by my blog and as always, to see more beautiful skies from around the world, you can stop by the Skywatch Friday blog. I hope you all have a lovely weekend and Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers out there :o)

Today I...June 12th

Sunset at Cavendish Beach

Today I...

...am on day two of my new schedule. It is agreeing with me so far, although it will take some getting used to and my first two days on this new schedule have been rather hectic. I left for my Sweetheart's place on Sunday afternoon and did not come back home until last night after work around 8:30 P.M. I wanted to squeeze my jog in as I knew that it was not going to be nice this morning, then I had to make myself a bite to eat, get my cats and my fish fed and slice up all the vegetables for the chicken curry I was going to make in my crock pot this morning and wash some dishes. Throw my shower into there and I wasn't in bed until Midnight. Then this morning I slept until 9:30 A.M., ate some breakfast and then went to get the chicken I had bought for my curry on Saturday out of the fridge to coat it in the spices for the curry and I realized that it definitely smelled off. Uh oh...I had to race off to the grocery store, grab more chicken and grabbed a box of cereal while I was at it because I was almost out of that and then race back home. By the time I got in, I had only a half hour left to slice up the chicken, coat it in its spices, throw it in the crock pot and then wash all my dishes and get out the door. I made it to work two minutes late. That was quite hectic! So tonight I got a ride home from work which was nice, because it was quite cool and rainy and I was quite happy to have my dinner pretty much ready when I got home. No jogging since it was raining, so I was able to crash on my couch for a bit and watch some TV. All I have left to do is wash my dishes and have my shower, but I'll probably still only be in bed at Midnight...unless I wait until tomorrow morning, jog after breakfast and then shower? I guess it will depend on when I wake up! We shall see...

...gave a tourist tour ( we have them three times a day every day from mid-June to the first weekend of September) to 13 tourists, something I have not done in quite a while! I usually get asked to give tourist tours two or three times every summer when we are short summer tour guides, but whether any tourists show up is always up in the air and for there to be 13 this early in the season is quite something!

...got quite cold working in the information booth for an hour this evening while replacing the summer tour guide who was on dinner break.

...was quite happy with how my crock pot curry turned out! I also tasted coconut milk for the first time as the recipe called for some and I tasted it before pouring it into the crock pot when I got home and let me tell you, it is yummy stuff!

I can't wait!

New Anne of Green Gables TV series to feature a re-imagined Anne Shirley

I just read this article about a new Anne of Green Gables series that is more than likely going to be released in 2014 and I can't wait to see it! Maybe I'll even see if I can get cast as an extra or something, what fun that would be!

Today I...June 8th

Today I...

...am sharing another photo of Cavendish Beach with all of you. It is extremely rare to have this beach all to yourself, particularly at sunset, but this was on a Monday night and it was cold and windy, so the only person crazy enough to be on the beach was the crazy, early in the season tourist from Montreal who was equally crazy enough to put her feet in the Atlantic. It was cold, but I figured my feet would get warm again pretty quick. No such luck, it took hours, nearly eight hours to be exact. I wore socks to bed that night and didn't wake up with my feet warm enough to take them off until 3:30 in the morning lol

...had a very, very busy day at work again. We're getting ready for the summer season and I was all alone in the office for pretty much the entire afternoon while C and D were off visiting one of our tour guides who has been in the hospital for the week, so I definitely did not have time to twiddle my thumbs!

...turned my alarm clock off this morning for (barring a few exceptions) the last time until September. My work schedule will be changing for the Summer as of Monday to allow me to supervise our team of Summer tour guides in the evening, so I will be working from early afternoon into the first half of the evening. That's just fine with me, as I am not an early bird of any description. It will also make it easier for my Sweetheart and I to spend time together as we will be able to get together once I am done with work and then not worry about having to rush the next morning so I'm not late for work. I might have a bit of a rough time getting back into my regular schedule in the fall though, but that's a long way off :o)

...am looking forward to going to a concert that I won a pair of tickets for with my Sweetheart on Sunday :o)

Skywatch Friday

This week's Skywatch Feature is this photo of one of the many potato fields I came across in Prince Edward Island stretching off to the horizon. Potato fields are a very common sight on the island, but beautiful and fascinating for a city girl like me, especially when they are on a hill like this one is!

To see more Skywatch photos from around the world, you can stop by the Skywatch Friday blog. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

Today I...June 5th

Today I...

...am sharing this picture of the lighthouse and interpretation center in Victoria-By-The-Sea, Prince Edward Island. I went there just for the lighthouse, the views of the bay and the chocolate shop. Unfortunately, the chocolate shop was closed, but luckily bays, views and most lighthouses do not go anywhere. The lighthouse in Victoria-By-The-Sea won't be going anywhere at least, as the town has taken over its upkeep, I actually had a nice chat with one of its keepers while I was there!

...had a busy day at work with a long, boring, meeting, a bunch of data entry and a lightning fast tour with a very late tour group.

...went for a jog! It was my first one in a few years. I tried jogging a few years ago, but had to quit because my running shoes were old and inadequate and it was doing a number on my already not too healthy feet (I have a bunion and arthritis in both my feet, but my right one is particularly bad). I got myself some new running shoes late last Fall, but didn't get a chance to take them for a run before the weather got too cold, so today when I was feeling quite energetic when I got home from work, I figured the time was right! I reached my goal for tonight and ran 1 kilometer and power walked another kilometer. I'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow and for now my plan is to run again on Thursday and then on Saturday if all goes well and my feet behave!

...fixed my commenting problem by enabling cookies on my browser again, so I'll be able to comment on your blogs again :o)

Today I...June 4th

Today I...

...am sharing this photo of some farms in the town of St. Peter's, Prince Edward Island, with all of you. It turned out to be my Sweetheart's favorite out of all my PEI pictures...maybe because it is also the wallpaper on my laptop right now and therefore the first picture he saw.

...went back to work this morning. It went pretty well, C did a very good job of keeping on top of my data entry last week, so I had very little catching up to do.

...found out that a choir that was supposed to sing at the Oratory and that I had sent all the memos out for never showed up. I called their agency to find out why and they were supposed to look into what happened and call me back, but they never did!

...spent a nice evening with my Sweetheart and then walked him to the metro a bit after 8:00 P.M. He didn't like having to leave, but he had to send off some work by 9:00 P.M. and then try and get to bed early so he could be up early for a meeting at his place early tomorrow morning. He loved the dinner I made him though and the little nap he was able to take on my couch while I was cooking and looking at my pictures and the little walk we took to the metro. All in all, he was just plain happy to spend time with me after I was away last week. We're more than likely going to get together again this weekend and I'm going to try and find a tasty recipe so I can feed him more good food :o)

On a technical note, thanks for the pointer about reporting my issues with commenting to Blogger, Kim! I did so tonight and hopefully they'll be able to fix my problem! I actually can't even comment on my own blog...but at least I can still write posts!

Today I...June 2nd

(View out the window of my flight to Toronto, where I changed planes before continuing on to Charlottetown)

Today I...

(View of PEI from the window of my plane as we were preparing to land)

...am sharing...

(Cavendish beach at sunset)

...a few of my pictures from my four day vacation to Prince Edward Island with all of you.

(Lupins in Victoria-by-the-Sea)

I had a lovely four days and got home very late on Thursday night. The weather during my vacation was not that great, so any sunny pictures you I share with you, like the second to last one on this post, were taken either on the evening of my arrival or on the afternoon of my departure. I didn't see any sun at all between those two times, but I didn't mind so much, I was still able to drive 635 km in four days and visit about 75% of the island. It was incredibly relaxing and as when I left the Island after my first visit in 1999, I really didn't want to go and shed a few tears. Life seems so much simpler on PEI, people are so friendly and laid back, so I guess it's only natural that visitors would be reluctant to leave. While I was there I actually chatted with two people who moved to the Island with their families after a visit there. I must admit that I wouldn't mind at all if that eventually happened to my Sweetheart and I, but I have to get him to the Island first, which I'm hoping to do next year. I picked up a guide to cycling the Confederation Trail for him at one of the National Park's Visitors' Center for him, so that should give him a nudge :o)

...finished getting caught up on my cleaning.

...went out to the West Island for an appointment.

...am wondering what I'm going to do with my last day off before heading back to work on Monday.

...am looking forward to seeing my Sweetheart on Monday, I missed him him while I was away!

On a final note, I apologize if I haven't been leaving comments on some of your blogs for a while now, but I've been having issues with Blogger not allowing me to comment on some blogs and I can't figure out why. Have any of you had similar issues?
