Every city's Skyline is unique, but Montreal's Skyline is dominated, from the West, by something that is usually only seen in Europe...a huge church, St.Joseph's Oratory. I often refer to the Oratory as the last of its kind, or in North America at least. They just don't build churches like this anymore!

What a fantastic shot and a beautiful building.

That is a very cool looking building!! I would not of thought of it as a church!! Great photo!
ReplyDeleteMontreal, one of my favourite places! Was there in October and my friend took me up to see the Oratory. A lot of mist that day, but it was a marvelous sight for sure.
ReplyDeleteit's beautiful. yes, it does look European.:p
ReplyDeleteWell done, that is a fabulous view of the sky line
ReplyDeleteBuildings like this make for a much more interesting skyline, I think, than tall skyscrapers.
ReplyDeleteNice shot. At first I thought this was in Europe until I saw that you are on this side of the pond. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteIt's a magnificent church, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteBut I will have to take a photo of a HUGE cathedral north of Toronto built maybe 20 years ago. It's unbelievable too. :)
Hi, thought you might like to see the Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Markham north of Toronto:

That's definitely the major feature of the skyline!
ReplyDeleteHow imposing! It really does dominate the skyline. - Margy
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful building. I was in Montreal for the first time this year but didn't get around very much as I wasn't feeling well, and had to stay in my hotel. But when I got out, I discovered I just love Montreal. It's beautiful, as your wonderful picture proves.
ReplyDeleteI managed to get around Montreal and the Gaspe Peninsula by saying, "Je ne parle pas beaucoup de Francais" to let people know I do have some French, but not much, and I was willing to try. Everyone was great. Most of them said, "That's okay, I speak English" and the others were very patient with me until I could let them know what I wanted. I'll certainly be back to Montreal, and I hope to see the Oratory.
