Snack time!

So there I was, sitting in the information booth at work a few weeks ago before we shut it down until next summer and one of my colleagues comes in and says to me 'Look at that cute groundhog making a snack out of our lawn!' my response: 'That's okay, it's too long anyway! Maybe he'll get rid of our dandelions too!' In any case, I was lucky to have my camera with me that day and I snapped a whole series of pictures of the little guy and he even did me the favor of sitting up for me. I did have to take these through the side window of the info booth so I wouldn't scare him away, so that's why the picture may seem a little hazy, but I thought it was still good enough to share :o)

So that's Camera Critters for me this week, be sure to go and check out other Camera Critters posts here, and have a great weekend!

Skywatch Friday

Hello fellow Skywatchers!

I hope you all had an amazing week! This week's Skywatch feature is this lovely shot of dusk in Vancouver taken from Lion's Gate Bridge. It's worth enlarging it by clicking on it because you can get a better view of the sun reflecting off the skyscrapers and the details on the cargo ship heading out to sea. So there you have it, it's an old photo of mine, but one of my favorites :o)

I hope you all have a great weekend and don't forget to enhance by going to check out more Skywatch pictures here .

The joys of Stumbleupon

I decided to sutmble around a bit before going out to enjoy this lovely, sunny afternoon and came across this. It is, in my humble opinion, brilliant, charming and lovely all wrapped up together. Go and take a little look and you'll see what I mean, it's worth it :o)

Griffin

I'm an animal lover in general, although between cats and dogs, I've always preferred cats. My mom, however, is a total dog person. A German Shepherd person if you would like to be more precise. She has had three German Shepherds at all times for about six years now, and the one you see here is her latest addition, Griffin. She got him last February after our last real family dog (as opposed to just being her dog) passed away at the age of twelve, which is an extraordinary age for a German Shepherd to reach. I was reticent towards her getting another dog so soon since Griffin entered the picture only three weeks after Musk passed away, but I fell in love with Griffin right from the start. He's a very sweet natured dog and loves all people and animals...including cats. He's actually gotten a whack on the nose from a cat he was insisting on wanting to play with when she didn't want to and he still wanted to say hi to her the next time he saw her. The above picture was taken of him this past June when he was six months old. At that time he was already taller than my mom's full grown three year-old male True. Griffin is now nine months old and is taller than her very tall six year-old female Rhea. Yup, he's gonna be huge, but he's also very elegant. I'll introduce you guys to True and Rhea in future Camera Critters posts and I will also take some more photos of Griffin.

So that's my Camera Critters post for this week, I hope you all have a fun filled weekend with your critters and don't forget to go and check out everyone else's critters here

Skywatch Friday

Hi all!

So, another week gone by and it's already Skywatching time! This week I'm sharing another picture from my recent trip to Toronto with all of you, this one is of Canada's famed Snowbird elite aviation team. It was taken on Labor Day Monday from the Sunnyside Pavillion Cafe, where my Sweetheart, my aunt, uncle, a cousin, his wife and I ate a late lunch while taking in the Canadian National Exhibition after canoeing up the Humber River. We had a wonderful time, were blown away by the air show and we all got a good dose of late-summer sunshine. Here's a shot of the river I took from my boyfriend and I's canoe as we were paddling along at a leisurely place in order to let my family catch up, that's them back there in the canoe and kayak. Not a Skywatch, but still pretty :o)

So there you have it, I hope you guys have an amazing weekend and don't forget to start it off by going to see some more Skywatch photos here.

Fall Doldrums

Hi everyone!

So, I don't know if this happens to any of you, but every year around this time I fall victim to a major case of the doldrums...the days get shorter, I have less to do at work, I'm not outside nearly as much, it gets cool and I end up feeling sulky and restless and I have a lot of trouble snapping myself out of it. Does this happen to any of you and if so, how do you get over it? In my case, I just have to wait and let it pass. It usually takes a few weeks of ups and downs until I fall into my new routine, which usually happens about the same time the leaves start changing and I get wrapped up in the beauty of that and then I'm okay. Don't get me wrong, I love fall. I love the smells, sounds and sights of it, it's just that compared to summer it can be kind of a drag sometimes, especially when I think that after fall, there's invariably winter...now that's really a drag. I would do perfectly well in a two climate system that hopped between two seasons, summer and fall with snow for two weeks before and two weeks after Christmas, anything else is just overkill, wouldn't you say?

Insane Cat Video

Hi folks!

I came across this video after not seeing for quite while today and I just had to share it with all of you. No matter how lousy I'm feeling, this video can always make me laugh, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Oh and as I side note, no, I don't shop for martial art weapons and such, I was using stumbleupon, and the video just happened to be on that site :op

Waterfowl

So, here am, back with a camera critters post! Sorry I missed out on this fun weekly feature last week, but I was off enjoying the last long weekend of the summer in Toronto with my boyfriend.

Anyhow, getting on to this photo, my grandparents own a home in Florida and I go to visit them often and every time I do, I love going out in their golf cart with my grandfather and going shutterbug crazy over all the beautiful waterfowl that live on the golf course in their development. There are many egrets, snake birds, ducks of several varieties and even tiny little blue birds that are EXTREMELY hard to capture and then there are the guys I took in this shot. They almost always stand in pairs like this, looking very stately indeed, but I'm not sure what they're called. Do any of you know?

I hope you enjoyed this Camera Critter post! If you would like to see more critter photos, head on over here.

Have a great Sunday!

Skywatch Friday

I was in Toronto this past weekend visiting my sweetheart. We had a wonderful time and took two nice long walks in the downtown area, one of them at dusk, which is when I took this photo of St.James Anglican Cathedral surrounded by streetcar cables with some light cloud cover above it. I absolutely loved the look and feel of this shot and I hope you'll all like it too. If you'd like to see some more lovely sky themed shots, head on over here.

So there you have it! I hope you all had a nice week and a nice Labor Day weekend last week and will have an equally nice weekend this week, I hope your weather has been as amazing as what we've been enjoying here in Montreal and Toronto!

Skywatch Friday

Hi all, I hope you had an amazing week! So, my Skywatch Friday feature this week is this shot I took on my BC vacation a few years ago of the ferry to North Vancouver from Vancouver harbor. I took so many amazing pictures during that trip and this one I like particularly because of the shadows of the clouds on the snow-capped Rocky Mountains.

Be sure and check out some of the other Skywatch photos here. I hope you all have a great weekend!
