Today I...April 29th

Today I...

...am all giddy over William and Kate (Catherine) Middleton's wedding. I thought it was beautiful, simple...or as simple as the couple could possibly keep it and amazingly romantic.

...had an insanely busy day at work with a phone that wouldn't stop ringing, e-mails that kept coming it, a schedule to finish and hand out and just before leaving, orchids to remember to water. I got everything done except returning two calls. I left a note on my desk for the girl who is going to be in the office tomorrow to return the calls for me and walked out of work with a spring in my step since I'm not going back for two weeks!

...realized when I went to see if my landlord had deposited my rent cheque from April that 380$ had been stolen from my account on Monday. I came home on Tuesday to a message from the bank telling me that they had frozen my account because I had used my card someplace risky, but they didn't tell me that there had been suspicious activity. The only thing they told me to do was change my PIN and then my card would be fine. I'm glad I changed the PIN so quickly, otherwise whoever cloned my card would have been able to take even more money! I'm also glad I went to check my account before leaving on Tuesday, otherwise I might have been in big trouble while I was away, but as it stands I was told that the bank would be able to set everything right tomorrow.

...am letting you all know that I will do my best to blog and comment before I leave on vacation on Tuesday, but I may only be able to make the rounds once since I have quite a bit to do before leaving.

Today I...April 27th

Today I...

...made this yummy smelling and hopefully tasting spaghetti sauce. I'm sure it will be fine though, nothing smells as good as this stuff does right now could possibly taste bad :o) I am quite proud of myself for making it though, as I always am the first time I make something. I have made bolognese sauce before, but as part of perciatelli sauce...so it only semi counted as spaghetti sauce in my books.

...have been battling a migraine all day. I spent half the day in bed after getting up briefly to have breakfast as an empty stomach never does a migraine any good. By 2:00 P.M. I was feeling pretty functional so I got up and went to get groceries, came home around 3:30 and made my spaghetti sauce.

...clipped my cats' claws. This has become a much easier process since I have trained them into associating getting their claws cut with receiving two treats if they behave. I only ever give my two furry felines treats if they have their claws clipped, so it has turned out to be a most effective reward system. And FYI: I only clip their front claws as their back ones do not cause any damage to me or anything I own.

...am going to send my Sweetheart that picture of my spaghetti sauce with an invitation to dinner at my place Friday or over the weekend. The sauce will taste better once is has sat for a few days anyhow :o)

Today I...April 26th

Today I...

...am happy to report that the Canadiens are one game away from eliminating the Boston Bruins. It's tradition, we ALMOST always eliminate them every time we face them during the playoffs :o)

...spent the afternoon with my Sweetheart working on his floor. We also had lunch together and went to run a few errands together.

...sat in the waiting area of the hair salon and watched the hairdresser cut a pretty good amount of my Sweetheart's amazing hair off :o( I love his hair when it's longer, but he likes it shorter so we now got halfway between his hair being what he considers too long and I consider too short.

...am hoping to see my Sweetheart again before we leave on our vacation next Tuesday. He has lots to do before then, but hopefully it will work out. If not...well, I get him all to myself for 8 days while we're away so that should kind of make up for it :o)

Today I...April 25th

Today I...

...am having a pictureless post, but fear not! I took a series of photos at work yesterday and will put them on my computer at some point between now and Wednesday so you can enjoy them :o)

...am very happy to have three days off!

...went shopping today and got myself a sandal (my brother got me the other one since he's paying for half the pair for my very belated birthday), a pair of Bermuda shorts and a tank top.

...made a stop on the way home to get some supplements.

...Spoke with my Sweetheart for a bit, we should be getting together tomorrow and I'm going to help him varnish some boards for his floor. No worries though, it's water-based varnish because neither one of us can stand the smell of regular varnish so no headaches for us!

...am wondering if I'm the only one who can't stand the Mini Wheats commercials? i find them completely ridiculous.

Happy Easter!

Today I ...

...am wishing you all a very Happy Easter by sharing this lovely video of the King's College Choir singing Morten Lauridsen's Magnum Mysterium with you. I was very privileged to be able to sing this beautiful piece at my choir's Spring concert last year and I can only say that to be able to sing it is an even more moving experience than listening to it is because you know that you are touching the people who are hearing it. I know, the clip is off the Kings' Christmas Eve service, but just ignore the last little bit after the song is done and you won't know the difference :o)

...went on a cleaning frenzy. I was pretty much unstoppable. I did the laundry, set up a bookcase that my mom gave me, dusted, threw a bunch of old stuff out and dusted some more.

...spoke with my Sweetheart for about three minutes. Not long, but better than nothing! He had just come out of mass with his mom and it was a long one, the Easter vigil. It's pretty much the longest mass of the year and lasts two hours and they hadn't had dinner yet so he was hungry and his mom was making dinner. He said he would call me back on Monday when he was back in Montreal and I'm hoping to see him then!

Skywatch Friday

This week's Skywatch feature is a photo of planes on the tarmac at Pearson International Airport, in Toronto. I took it the last time my Sweetheart and I left on a vacation together...or at least a longer vacation that required us to fly somewhere. We have made a few road trips since the trip we went on when I took this photo, which was when we went to BC in 2007...Yeah, he moved to Toronto for two years about a year later, so it made travelling together a little bit more difficult, especially since so much of my budget went into train tickets to go see him. The idea behind this photo is that this will be my last Skywatch for a few weeks, since my choir practice next week is going to be on Thursday instead of Monday and the week after I will be in California with my Sweetheart!!! Forgive me if I don't feel like posting while on vacation with him :o) I also have a dress rehearsal for my concert the week after that, so I will basically be back to Skywatching in a month. Until then, you can check out Skywatch photos from around the world at the Skywatch Friday Blog.

I hope you have a wonderful Easter for those of you who celebrate it and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend :o)

Today I...April 20th

Today I...

...am sharing this nice little video of a rainy day in Montreal last September with you. Nope, I didn't create it myself, but I wanted something rain themed for my blog today since it was mighty ugly out today with lots of rain, some ice pellets and lots of wind. Not nearly as nice as this rainy day looks, all mild and leafy green. Nope, our day today was gray all over and just plain icky!!!

...am wishing that my upstairs neighbors game system would break. They seem to have gotten a new game last weekend and since then I have been treated to hearing they play with it every evening all evening until 11:00 P.M., which entails some seriously intense base and thumping around, hence my belief that they must be the proud (and annoying) owners of a Wii...

...had a very quiet day at the office since I was alone. C is off until Friday and D didn't come in, so it was just me which I don't mind at all. It's not that I don't like my colleagues, but it's nice to have a day on my own every once in a while too!

...was cold all day because it was so cold and humid out.

...still have three fish, but I will be losing my only remaining Lemon Tetra within 24 hours I think since he seems to be exhibiting some symptoms of the dreaded Neon Tetra disease.

...am going to get out of my living room now before I become any more tempted to take a broomstick to my ceiling to send a very clear signal to my neighbors. Ugh!!!

Today I...April 19th

Today I...

...am having a pictureless post since I don,t feel like digging through my files for one. I have thousands and thousands of pictures and tons that you guys haven't seen yet, but I feel like getting you guys some new ones before I post more. I'll hopefully be able to get out and take some early next week, otherwise my Los Angeles vacation is coming up in exactly two weeks and I'll definitely get some pictures out of that!

...am down to three fish. I lost two yesterday and one today and pulled out the live plant I had added to my tank when I bought my Neon Tetras in case it was the culprit. I'm now pretty sure that either it or the Neon Tetras were as my las remaining Neon revealed one of the likely culprits of the apocalypse that struck my tank: Neon Tetra disease, which attacks not only Neons, but all Tetras and several other types of fish, all of which inhabited my tank. The Ich and Neon Tetra disease could only have come from the plant and Neons since I had a very healthy for years and years before bringing both in. I just hope that by euthanizing my last Neon today I have spared my last Lemon Tetra and Harlequin Raspbora. As for my Albino Pleco, he seems to be pretty indestructible as eh is neither a Tetra nor any other vulnerable fish species and thus has a much thicker skin than the other fish. he is also a vegetarian and therefore does not poke at sick fish or nibble at dead ones, which is how all the others caught the Neon Tetra disease. I will probably get more fish once I can get my tank in shape again, which will entail my changing the filter sponge and doing another water change, all this after seeing if my last two little guys survive or not. If they're still here in a week, they'll be fine but at this point I'm not daring to get my hopes up too much.

...had a better day than yesterday. I'm suffering from guided tour burn-out, you see. I have given 10 tours in the past two weeks, meaning four two weeks ago, five last week and one yesterday and most of them were to very hyperactive kids. When I saw that my group yesterday was out of control and the teacher was doing little about it, I nearly burst into tears and was very strict with them. They behaved after that, but I was left wondering what on earth was wrong with me as I don't usually ever lose my cool with my groups. I can be strict about kids talking and pestering one another or even adults talking amongst themselves during my tours, but nearly bursting into tears and being downright snappish? Nope, definitely not me. I've just plain given too many tours to kids lately I think and I am in dire need of my upcoming vacation. Fortunately I only have one tour left to give this week and it's going to be to adults who are learning French and there will only be a small group of them, so they will be nice and calm and quiet.

Today I...April 17th

Today I...

...am sharing this spoof of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding with you, it's definitely good for a giggle! Check out the dancing Bishop!!!

...got up with my Sweetheart when he left at 8:00 A.M. so he could make it to Palm Sunday mass with his family...and then went back to bed. I did think of going to mass myself, but I was still too tired. My Sweetheart had a stuffy nose last night and therefore snored a good bit of the night and quite loudly, so I got woken up a lot. He slept really well though according to him! lol

...went to an all-you-can-eat lunch for my friend G's birthday and stuffed myself silly with sushi and Chinese food. Yum!!!

...walked a total of four kilometers to the restaurant and back from my place and thereby burned off part of my lunch walking uphill to get home.

...crashed on my couch for what I intended to be a one hour nap around 5:00 P.M., but it turned into and hour and a half long nap instead and I probably would have kept right on sleeping if I hadn't gotten overheated under my blanket with Magique curled up beside me! I love napping though, it's always so nice to be able to take the time for a bit of a snooze!

Today I...April 16th

Today I...

...am sharing this picture of Quinn and Magique snuggling together with you. Quinn gave me a good fright yesterday when, quite uncharacteristically for her, she bolted out of my apartment and down the main stairwell into the foyer when the door to the vestibule was chained open, signalling that someone had gone out and was going to be coming back in with some huge, opening the main door. I chased after Quinn and she raced back up the three stairs leading to the mezzanine and to the end of the hall. I caught up to her and scooped her up just as the people opened the front door and Quinn tried to scramble out of my arms, scratching my back in the process, but I held onto to her and got her back into my apartment. I was so relieved! That's one of the most important differences between Quinn and Magique. It is more Magique's style to bolt out of the apartment, but she has never taken stairs before and is afraid of them so when she bolts out of the apartment, the farthest she goes is down to the end of the hall and then she throws herself on the floor and rolls around waiting to me to come and scoop her up and put her back in our house. Quinn on the other hand has absolutely no fear. She goes wherever she wants and races around and I have a heck of a time catching her. This was the second time she made a Great Escape and I hope it will be the last as I was so scared she was going to run out of the building I had a nightmare about it!

...am sad to report that I now only have seven fish left. I lost two more yesterday and one today. I have two Lemon Tetras, one Tiger Barb, one Harlequin Raspbora, two Neon Tetras and my Albino Plecostamus . The Pleco, hardy soul, is the one who seems to have not suffered from the fishy plague at all. Hopefully I'm done losing fish now.

...did my laundry and saw that the Heavy Duty washing machine still hadn't been repaired. It been on the fritz for at least a month now, I guess maybe the landlord is just going to have it replaced?

...went over to my mom's place with my brother to pick out a bookcase. She had four she wanted to give away and I chose one that matched the dark wood accents in my apartment perfectly. Unfortunately, my brother thought it wouldn't fit into his car, so I wasn't able to bring it home with me, but one of my mom and I's friends has a big van, so my mom will see if she would be willing to go over to her place and pick it up.

...went to buy a David's Tea gift car for my friend G's birthday. A bunch of us are getting together for lunch tomorrow to celebrate her 28th birthday at a Chinese restaurant near my place, I can't wait! G and I have been friends since grade 5 and we always love getting together :o)

...am posting this early because my Sweetheart got home this afternoon and he is coming over tonight!!! I'm so, so happy :o) I can't wait to see him!!!

Skywatch Friday

This week my Skywatch feature is this photo of my Alma Mater, McGill University's, playing fields which are used for pick-up soccer, football and Frisbee games. It is also where the convocation tent is set up every year in May. Spring seems to have finally got the upper hand here in Montreal and the field should look just about like this for convocation in May...but with smaller leaves on the trees and the grass less worn down since the field is not allowed to be played on until the grass is all grown in and convocation is done!!! Hopefully, the sky will also be this blue, because having to walk from Redpath Hall to the convocation tent in the rain is no fun! To see more Skywatch photos from around the world, visit the Skywatch Friday blog.

Today I...April 13th

Today I...

...am happy to report that after a defragging session, my computer is feeling better. Thank heavens, the last thing I need is for it to croak!!!

...am getting ready to cheer on the Canadiens during the playoffs, just like most other Montrealers, hence my picture from one of my trips to the Bell Center last Spring during the playoffs.

...was very happy when, for the first time this week, my tour group was not composed of 40 to 50 little monsters. Giving a tour to 40 kids can feel like giving a tour to 20 kids or to a zillion of them. There is no in between. Either they're well behaved and it's fine or they like talking or fooling around and the teachers stand there with their arms crossed and it's Hell. My groups have been so bad so far this week that I was afraid to see today's kids but luckily I was blessed with a nice, quiet group. Phew!!!
...am very sad to report that my fish tank was hit with a particularly virulent strain of Ich. I have not had a disease problem in my fishtank in years, so the only thing I can think of is that this disease came in with my new Tetras or on the plant I got at the same time as them. I have lost eight fish since last Friday. All of my Red Phantom Tetras are gone, all but one of my Harlequin Raspboaras are gone too and I also lost one Neon Tetra. The fish that I still have (10 of them) seem stable, but I am worried about my two Tiger Barbs. They are the sickest and have been for two days and are very lethargic and didn't even get hyped up about their food before. I gave my fish their second dose of Malachite Green this morning so I'm hoping my Barbs will start feeling better overnight. I will do a 25% water change on Friday and then, depending on how my fish look on Sunday, I may do another cycle of medication.

...watched my Sweetheart's flight from Port-Au-Prince to Fort Lauderdale on Flight Viewer this evening. He landed in Florida at 6:45 P.M., so I'm glad we're on the same land mass again. I just really wish he would write to me or text me, I miss him!!!

Today I...April 10th

Today I...

...am sharing yet another lovely song with you, 'The Blower's Daughter', sung by Damien Rice. I also really encourage you to go and see the same song sung by one of my brother's friends, George Azzi. He recently released his first album. Here is the link to his version of 'The Blower's Daughter' on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPIJfygrt8s. Oh and ladies, according to my brother he's single...but then again, so is my wonderful, charming brother. He can't play the guitar, but he's funny, handsome, kind, generous...and drives a gorgeous BMW at the ripe old age of 26.

...went for a little spa treatment.

...went to visit my mom and got what will most likely be my first and last look at her redecorated house. She had it all repainted and got a load of new furniture and then unexpectedly decided to sell and move. The upside: her house sold in a week for pretty darn close to the asking price! The downside: she won't get to enjoy the remodel too much, but will try and have the same colors put in her new house.

...went shopping at Costco with my mom and got eight cans of diced tomatoes, three 2 litre containers of juice, a bunch of trout filets, a huge box of Life cereal, a large container of basmati and wild rice mixed with Qinoa, a large bag of Royal Gala apples, 18 Minute Maid juice boxes a top and an amazing down pillow for 147$. I will not have to go to the grocery store for anything significant for quite a while...what a deal!!!

...am happy to report that after one week, all my Neon Tetras are still alive! I did lose one of my other fish, but I don't think that due to the new additions. The fish I already had are all at least four years except for my Albino Plecostamus (window washing fish) and have been gradually dying off for a year now so yeah, the little guy died of natural causes.

...can't believe how quickly the weekend went by! It was a pretty busy one for me and I could definitely do with an extra day off, but oh well, back to work I go tomorrow!

Skywatch Friday

This week's Skywatch feature is from Toronto. I took this photo late in the summer of 2009, over Labour Day weekend to be exact. The weather was incredibly warm and pleasant and I actually got my first sunburn of the summer that weekend! Yeah, it was a pretty sad Summer sunshine and warmth-wise that year, it's always a tragedy for us Canadians when that happens. Anyhow, this photo was taken in the plaza at Toronto's City Hall, but don't expect to be seeing it like this anytime soon as they are currently rejuvenating the whole place, not that I found it needed it, I thought it was lovely the way it was! What do you think?

Today I...April 6th

Today I...

...am sharing this picture of some Hydrangeas that were growing in the garden at Casa Loma in Toronto when I was there with my Sweetheart with you. I saw things growing in some of the front gardens in Westmount while out for my lunch hour walk today and was so happy! I am looking forward to seeing flowers like these ones soon!

...watched my Sweetheart's plane take off from my office window this morning.

...went grocery shopping after work and forgot to buy some milk. Pretty classic, eh? I had to go out to the convenience store across the street to get some, otherwise I would have had a problem come breakfast time tomorrow!

...found myself wishing that I knew how to play the organ this afternoon when the organist who was supposed to give the organ workshop for my huge tour group (50 children between the ages of 8 and 10) didn't show up. Apparently someone, I don't know who, told him that he was not to give the workshop today because they were tuning the organ? Uh...unless it was Brother Andre's ghost tuning that organ, there was no one up there the entire time we were there! I ended up calling C in the office and asking her to call Father B. to see if he was free to come and play a bit for the children and in the mean time to run up with the keys to the organ for me so I could at least turn it on and show them the keyboards and stops. They kept asking me to play something, but yeah, I wasn't about to do that. On a little dinky organ maybe, but not on our 5, 811 pipe, five keyboard, full pedal-board, 8 storey tall organ. Making a mistake on there would show just a little bit too much. I was very happy when Father B. showed up with a smile on his face ready and willing to play the children a little something for the kids.

...had a good scare tonight when my Sweetheart hadn't texted me to let me know that he and his friend E. had made it Jacmel. His flight landed in Port-Au-Prince at 12:45 P.M. and I had understood that they might spend half a day in the capital and then head to Jacmel which is an hour and a half from Port-Au-Prince. I waited until 6:30 P.M. and sent my Sweetheart a slightly worried text message, but he didn't answer. I sent him another one and he still didn't answer, so I texted E, thanking my lucky stars that my Sweetheart had given me his number. He answered my five minutes later telling me my Sweetheart was with him and that they were both fine and had just been for a walk around town. I thought he meant in Jacmel, so I was upset wondering why my Sweetheart hadn't sent me a message yet if they were out for a walk??? I answered E asking him to tell my Sweetheart to write to me later, which he did. When he wrote to me I found out that he and E were still in Port-Au-Prince and I then understood why my Sweetheart had not texted me yet. I asked him yesterday to text me when they got to Jacmel because I wanted to know that he was safely out of Port-Au-Prince since the city scares me so much. He was undoubtedly wondering what on earth to do, text me and lie and say that they were in Jacmel when they weren't, or let me know that they were staying in Port-Au-Prince and have me worry about their being there. And as for not answering my text messages: carting a brand spanking new iPhone 4 around a very poor city where rich people get kidnapped is not a good idea. My Sweetheart's phone was undoubtedly tucked away in his bad somewhere safe. So there you have it: day one of my Sweetheart's trip and he is fine so far. As for me, I'm going to take come chamomile to help me settle down enough to sleep tonight.

Today I...April 5th

Today I...

...am sharing this lovely, lovely song by Sia with you. It is from the soundtrack of Twilight: Eclipse and unfortunately is impossible to download without purchasing the entire soundtrack from iTunes. I hate it when that happens...I don't want the entire soundtrack, just this one song and it is not sold anywhere as a single and is not of any of Sia's other albums. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get my fix of it off of YouTube :oJ I hope you enjoy it!

...have a migraine, unfortunately. I'm happy that I've been getting a lot fewer of these since beginning to deal with a hormone imbalance issue that I didn't even know I had until a few months ago. Unfortunately I still seem doomed to get at least one a month along with a certain other monthly affliction. Enough said?

...am trying very hard not to worry myself into a tizzy over the fact that my Sweetheart is leaving for Haiti tomorrow. His going there is what was at the root of our issue last week. I have a very well implanted mistrust and fear of Haiti. I have only ever met friendly, welcoming and generally happy Haitian here in Canada, but they all say the same thing, they would never go back to live in Haiti, or at least not until the country's many issues are resolved. My Sweetheart had mentioned, not long after the earthquake happened there last year that he would like to go there and help the Haitians learn how to build seismically resistant housing. I was full of admiration for him for having the idea and he even showed me a few designs for houses that he had come up with, but this was nearly a year ago. When he asked me last week if I would like to go to Port-au-Prince with him, I flipped out briefly and told him that I didn't want either of us to go and he dropped the issue. I later apologized for my reaction and he didn't mention it again until Wednesday, when he sent me his flight itinerary for his week long trip there and then three days split between Fort Lauderdale and Miami. He didn't explain to me why he was going there or where exactly he was going to be, all he sent me was the itinerary with 'Port-Au-Prince' on it. He had told me when he asked me if I wanted to go that he had a friend there that he would like to see, but nothing more, nothing about housing projects which would have made the trip seem far safer to me than just going to visit a buddy. Visiting a buddy in Port-Au-Prince is not a good reason for putting yourself in harm's way in my books, just because he's enough of a nut to want to go there doesn't mean that you have to be! Anyhow, I was gripped with fear and flipped out accordingly and he didn't understand why and told me so in the e-mail he sent to me explaining to me that he was going there to build houses and that I had been all for it the last time he told me about it. Oh dear...try calling me to tell me you're going someplace I'm afraid of first of all, don't just throw a flight itinerary at me and second of all, when you call me, remind me about the project and tell me you're going to be in a suburb SOUTH of Port-Au-Prince so I'll know you won't be right IN the city where people get kidnapped and much worse! Anyhow, it took be 24 hours to apologize to him for flipping out that time and I spent the better part of two days either in tears or on the verge of it. Now I'm calmer, C has been working on reassuring me that he will be safe and it's helping. I think she feels bad because she knows that the main reason I'm so afraid of Haiti is because of her and what she went through there before and what the conditions in Haiti have put her through since then. My Sweetheart is leaving for Haiti tomorrow morning and will be there until Wednesday of next week, so I would really appreciate your prayers for his safety...and for my sanity while he is gone. I am very proud of what he is going over there to do...but I still wish he wouldn't go. Couldn't he just send them blueprints by mail or something?

Today I...April 3rd

Today I...

...am sharing this picture of my new Smart Phone with you! Okay, so this isn't actually my phone in the picture, it's a picture I got from Google, but it's the same model, a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. It is marvelous, I love it!!!

...returned the movie I wasn't able to return yesterday.

...went out to do a bit of grocery shopping. I was very happy to see pack of 16 Yoplait Source yogurt cups on sale for 4.44$ each, so I grabbed one, but is so doing totally forgot to buy a jar of pasta sauce, so I'll have to go back for some tomorrow.

...am happy to report that my Neon Tetras seem to be doing fine so far!

...am most proud of myself for relighting one of pilot lights on my stove myself. The one on the left hand side of the stove top had gone out again and once again it was caused my a draft from the right hand-side window in my kitchen. Hmm...I'd hate to not be able to open it anymore, I'll see how it goes this summer, but at least I didn't have to call Gaz Metro this time since I knew what to do, I just had to muster a bit of courage to approach a pilot light with a lit match!

Today I...April 2nd

Today I...

...am sharing this video of an incredibly talented castanet player with you. I got this video through the Facebook news feed of a friend of mine and when I began watching it and saw this lady come out I was a bit confused as to why she was there. I could tall by looking at her that she was not there to sing (her posture was all wrong for it), but was blown away the minute she raised those castanets up! Admit that that is not what you expect to see a lady in a fancy dress up on stage in a concert hall to play! The harp, violin, cello, piano, flute, sure. But castanets? Yeah, my jaw dropped :o)

...am thanking you for your kind, encouraging comments following my post yesterday. Thank you ladies, you are marvelous and made me feel so much better knowing that I am not the only one who has trouble not letting my emotions get the best of me sometimes.

...did my laundry, just like every weekend.

...went to the mall at the end of the street next to my building to get fish food...and ended up walking out of the store with a live aquarium plant and four Neon Tetras to add to my aquarium. I have always wanted Neon Tetras and tried keeping some in my tank a few years ago, but unfortunately they died. They are more delicate than some other small tropical fish, so my failure at keeping them alive is not too surprising, but I am hoping that since my tank is more stable now than it was back then, I will have better luck this time. I'll keep you posted!

...went to return a movie I borrowed last week from my local video store, only to find it closed for good. I'll have to run the DVD down to their other location tomorrow. It's no big deal, it's not very far from my place only a ten minute walk whereas the location that closed down was about five minutes away.

...love how mild it was today, it made it up to 11 degrees!!! For Montrealers in April, that's getting pretty darn close to balmy :o)

Today I...

...am sharing this picture of Quinn with you. My Sweetheart and I hit a rough spot this week and as always, I was a mess because of it. Quinn is very sensitive to my being upset and she was lovely with me, coming to curl up beside me so I could pet her when I was upset. Thank heavens for pets, they bring so much to the lives of those who love them.

I never place the blame solely on one of us when there is a problem between my Sweetheart, even if I never become upset unless provoked. The problem in this case is that my Sweetheart did something to set me off and I was hurt and frightened and let my emotions get the better of me. Instead of calmly asking him questions about what he did, I flipped out and of course by the time I realized I had done something wrong, it was too late to undo it. Luckily, I am much calmer today after having a very rough two days. I had a good cry yesterday to get everything out of my system and then I wrote to my Sweetheart to apologize for overreacting the way I did and we were teasing each other by e-mail this morning so I'm pretty sure we are okay again.

...letting you all know that through all of this, we got our new vacation destination set up. We will be going to Los Angeles for a week in early May. We are still going to have to iron out some details, but our flights are set up and all we have to do now is pick our hotel.

..am so glad that the weekend is here after what has been a rough week.
