Skywatch Friday

Every city's Skyline is unique, but Montreal's Skyline is dominated, from the West, by something that is usually only seen in Europe...a huge church, St.Joseph's Oratory. I often refer to the Oratory as the last of its kind, or in North America at least. They just don't build churches like this anymore!

To see more skies from around the world, you can head over the to Skywatch Friday Blog.

Have a great weekend!

  3. Montreal, one of my favourite places! Was there in October and my friend took me up to see the Oratory. A lot of mist that day, but it was a marvelous sight for sure.

  6. Buildings like this make for a much more interesting skyline, I think, than tall skyscrapers.

  8. It's a magnificent church, that's for sure!

But I will have to take a photo of a HUGE cathedral north of Toronto built maybe 20 years ago. It's unbelievable too. :)

  12. What a beautiful building. I was in Montreal for the first time this year but didn't get around very much as I wasn't feeling well, and had to stay in my hotel. But when I got out, I discovered I just love Montreal. It's beautiful, as your wonderful picture proves.
I managed to get around Montreal and the Gaspe Peninsula by saying, "Je ne parle pas beaucoup de Francais" to let people know I do have some French, but not much, and I was willing to try. Everyone was great. Most of them said, "That's okay, I speak English" and the others were very patient with me until I could let them know what I wanted. I'll certainly be back to Montreal, and I hope to see the Oratory.
